The Vintage side of KK

Today.. kind of missing my hometown.. so decided to talk a little bit about my hometown.. Kota Kinabalu (KK)..

This post dedicate to those who never been to KK.. So orang KK diam2.. jangan masuk campur.. (familiar kah ni warning?? LOL)

1
In KK.. I would say it is quite easy to find food.. The cheapest way of having food is to look for 'cha-fan'.. Nasi campur like this. It's a home cook.. cheap and yummy meal.. My fav way of eating.. ;-p

Of coz you can find fancy food and fast food around.. but today I wanted to bring you jalan2 at 1 part area of KK.. which more towards the Gaya street.. May be we can called it as our China town (??) or the vintage side of KK.. :D

2
Eventho my hometown is now called a city.. I am still glad to see some old shops like this is still around.. some has been repainted to give a fresh looks to the city.

3
I am thankful for our goverment's mission wanted to stay as a green city.. and that is why we have a lot of big trees around.. and I would say this area are very cozy because of the trees..

6
When I walk along this area.. I suddenly feels like I were at a 1 of the China street.. I still can see some shops still keeping the old way of displaying their products.. and it really touch me.. it's like back on time..

5
I didn't managed to captures all the shops.. (for my remembrance.. never know what will happen in future.. I know I am gonna miss all that ). I love how they arrange all the groceries. Some are familiar.. and some looks very old brand.. I just can't differentiate is that a new brand or an old 1.. but for sure they look vintage for me..

7
Entering 1 of the shop.. and I am so in love with the way they selling all the biscuits.. and preserved fruits.. it's an old way.. wah! bring back my memory when I was still a kid.. ;-p

8
Some old building has been renovated and repainted to become a small hotels.. I noticed our town much more cleaner now too..

9
Ah.. this road full with memories.. which me myself can't really remember.. too many.. When I was small I was walking on this path.. and today my boy was walking on it too (in orange).. ^_^..

This is not a 'that's it??' view around KK town.. yes KK developed so much.. and we do have buildings and malls.. but that is in a different chapter.. ^_^

Hope you enjoy my short story..

Handcraft and dried sea food market in KK

(DRIED SEAFOOD MARKET)

If you are a dried seafood lover (Udang kering, Ikan masin..etc...buat sambal...nyammm...;-p),
it's a must to visit the PASAR IKAN MASIN located at KK town.

The price there are quite high.. as usual use your bargain skill.. price could be cheaper.. may b half of the open price.. I bought udang kering (Dried baby shrimp) and Ikan bilis for me and for my momIL.. bcos she loves to cook sambal.. :-D

If you want to have the best price, make sure you survey the price 1st before bargain.. coz I notice they put different price for same item... (and I bought at the expensive stall.. T_T)..

Dried shark fin..

errrr.... ???Sea cucumber... ;-p

(PASAR KRAFTANGAN)

Next to the dried seafood market was the handcraft market.. I am not sure if all the products was made by sabahan.. because some of the products I saw selling in Thailand and Bali as well.. I mean some other places.. But the best souvenirs I think will be the pearl, t-shirt, printing material (Sabahan design) and the beaded accessories (Colourful beads).

If you want cheap service for cutting your jeans, this is the place.. ^_^.. not sure if they still offer cheap price now a days... Last time I remember my father say it's expensive now a days.. (Well not only cutting jeans... anything increase.. even payment to use public toilet was increased.. T_T)
